Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the iOS app Fake GPS Location (the "App", "we", "us") handles and how. The App is designed so that your data stays on your device.
1. What the App does and does not do
The App lets you pick a place on a map, use it as your location inside the App, share it as a map link, and tag photos with that place. It does not modify your device's GPS, system Location Services, or the location other apps receive. It does not transmit your real-time location to us or anyone else.
2. Data that stays on your device
- Saved places — names, addresses and coordinates you create.
- Photos — photos you take or import in the App, with the optional place label and metadata you choose. They are stored in the App's private storage and, only if you tap Save to Photos, in your photo library.
- Settings and state — your active place, onboarding progress and similar preferences.
Deleting the App, or using Erase App Data in Settings, removes this data from your device.
3. Permissions
- Location (optional) — used only to center the map on you, show the direction and distance to your chosen place, and drop a pin where you are. It is never stored on a server or shared.
- Camera (optional) — to take photos inside the App.
- Photo library, add-only (optional) — to save tagged photos. The App cannot read your existing library through this permission; importing a photo uses Apple's picker, which only hands the App the photo you select.
4. Photo metadata
If you enable it, the App writes the coordinates of your chosen place and the date you pick into the EXIF/GPS metadata of the photos you export. This happens on your device. Metadata in a photo travels with that photo when you share it; think before sharing.
5. Third-party services
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — processes purchases. Apple's privacy policy applies.
- RevenueCat — validates purchases and manages subscription status. It receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipt data and basic device information (device model, OS version, locale). It does not receive your name, email or location. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- Apple Maps & WeatherKit — searching places, reverse geocoding and weather use Apple's services; the coordinates you look up are sent to Apple. See Apple's privacy policy.
- Apple Search Ads attribution — if you installed the App through an Apple Search Ads campaign, Apple's AdServices framework provides an attribution token so we know which campaign brought the install. This does not use the advertising identifier and does not require App Tracking Transparency consent.
We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook SDK or any advertising network.
6. Sharing
When you share a place, the App hands a maps.apple.com link to the iOS share sheet; what happens next is governed by the app you share into. When you share or save a photo, the photo (including any metadata you enabled) is handed to that destination.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. Your rights
Because we don't hold personal data about you on our systems, most rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised directly on your device by deleting content or the App. For purchase data, contact Apple; for RevenueCat, see their policy.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; the date above tells you when. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
